Bihar villager loses son in gamble, told to do sit-ups as punishment
Patna, Nov 28 (The Bihar Post/IBNS): A villager from the eastern Indian state of Bihar put his son on bet after losing everything in the gamble, inviting action from a village court.
The bizarre incident took place at Purani Gharari village which falls under Minapur block in Muzaffarpur district on Sunday.
Santosh Kumar lost everything to his co-villager Ram Ram Bhajan Sah in the gamble after which the former put his three-year-old son on bet.
But luck didn’t favour him and he lost his son in the gamble.
The incident spread like a wildfire in the areas after which a village court was held over the issue on Monday.
After hearing the case, the court asked both the parties to do sit-ups. While the loser was asked to do sit-up 50 times, the winner was told to do sit-up for 25 times.
The court also banned gambling at the village and announced to initiate severe punitive action if anyone is caught involved in it in anyway.
“We have sorted out the issue and the decision has been communicated to the police,” local sarpanch Shivpati Devi told the media on Tuesday. A sarpanch has limited judicial powers.
