Biplab Deb's suggestion to graduates on 'breeding cows' triggers controversy

| @indiablooms | Apr 29, 2018, at 09:45 pm

Agartala, Apr 29 (IBNS): Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb has once again triggered a controversy by saying that graduates should 'milk cows' to earn money rather than searching for jobs for 10 years.

"Every household should have a cow. Milk sells at Rs. 50 per litre. So, instead of being jobless for 10 years, if these people sold milk, they would have then had a bank balance of Rs. 10 lakh by now," Deb was quoted as saying by media in an event in Tripura.

Deb's remarks have triggered controversies in recent times.

Former Miss World Diana Hayden has hit out at Biplab Deb for making controversial comments on the former's looks, media reports said.

Deb said he didn't understand the beauty of Hayden, who won the Miss World competition in 1997.

Reacting to the comment, Hayden said Deb's comment is "shameful". The former Miss World even said she is proud of her "exotic brown skin colour".

Hayden has been quoted by NDTV, "With regards to me winning the Miss World, it's a pity and shame, that when you win the biggest and most respected beauty pageant in the world, you get criticised and put down as opposed to being appreciated and respected for bringing more accolades back home and further appreciation of our Indian brown exotic beauty."

Deb regarded Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the Indian beauty.

The CM has been quoted by NDTV, "We see women as goddess Laxmi, Saraswati. Aishwarya Rai represents the Indian women. She became the Miss World and that's all right. But I do not understand the beauty of Diana Hayden."

However, this is not the first time Deb triggered a row after assumption of power in 2018.

Earlier Deb claimed internet services were available even during the period of the fictional epic Mahabharata.

Deb had said: "India has been using internet since ages. In Mahabharata, Sanjay was blind but he narrated what was happening in the battlefield to Dhritarashtra anyway."

"This was due to internet and technology. Satellite also existed during that period."
