BJP Bengal leader faces TMC ire for rape analogy over Tapas Pal CBI arrest

| | Jan 10, 2017, at 06:53 am
Kolkata, Jan 9 (IBNS): Creating a fresh controversy, BJP National Secretary and West Bengal leader Rahul Sinha on Sunday said that actor-turned-Trinamool Congress (TMC) Lok Sabha MP Tapas Pal who had once threatened to get women of opposition raped had been "raped by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)", local media reports said.

According to reports, while Sinha was addressing a party meeting at Uluberia in West Bengal's Howrah district on Sunday evening, he said, "Tapas Pal, who earlier threatened to let loose his boys on opposition parties' women, has already been raped by the CBI."

Following the statement, Rahul Sinha faced demonstration and the ruling TMC activists of the state showed him black flag on Monday in Kolkata's neighbouring Hooghly district.

Later on Monday evening, the former president of Bengal BJP apologized for his controversial remark.

Earlier in 2014, TMC MP of Krishnanagar Lok Sabha constituency, Tapas Pal, threatened to send his men to rape the women activists of opposition parties, during an election campaign at Choumaha village in West Bengal's Nadia district.

Tapas Pal was arrested by the CBI few days ago in connection with Rose Valley chit fund scam and currently he is in judicial custody in Bhubaneswar.
