BJP complains to EC on 'illegal' copter landing by Trinamool Congress

Durgapur, West Bengal Apr 20 (UNI) The BJP Durgapur unit on Saturday complained to the Election Commission to take cognizance on how two copters carrying pro Trinamool Congress sportspersons landed here.

According to local unit BJP intellectual cell chief Amitava Banerjee- all these players landed here to take part in election campaigning in a covert manner.
"One good message for us is that the Trinamool Congress is in panic mood. Hence comes another desperate attempt by Trinamool ," Banerjee told UNI.

He further said the players have reportedly got in touch with various clubs - numbering around 130 in Durgapur and adjoining areas and are to influence young voters.
Mr Banerjee further said these clubs have taken hefty donations from the state government in the past and hence the intent to bring in sportspersons at this juncture raises doubts.

In Bardhaman-Durgapur parliamentary seat, the BJP has fielded union Minister and sitting Darjeeling MP S S Ahluwalia and expects to do well.
The CPI(M) had finished second in the 2014 polls when the seat was won by Trinamool leader Mamtaz Sanghamita, who is seeking re-election from the seat.
