BJP is a one-man show: Priyanka Gandhi
Campaign for her mother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi at Raebareli Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka said: "BJP is a one-man show. BJP ideology is about one man who takes all the decisions."
"There are two ideologies that are contesting against each other in this election. The Opposition creates disunity, one man takes all the decisions. But the Congress is working for unity," she said.
"The Opposition is trying to divide people. But we have only one ideology, one that is to empower people," said Priyanka.
She campaigned for her brother and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in Amethi on Tuesday.
Pertinently, she is the in-charge of Rahul and Sonia in Raebareli and Amethi.
Meanwhile, there was a war of words between two estranged Gandhi cousins -Varun Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi - after the latter accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader of being on the "wrong path."
In her recent hit at Varun Gandhi, Priyanka on Tuesday said, "It's not a family tea party. It's an ideological war."
"I believe what I believe about this election in this country and anybody, no matter how close they are, even if they have blood relations, are on the other side of the ideological spectrum then these are my views," she told mediapersons.
Referring to the alleged hate comments as Varun Gandhi's "views about certain things in the last election", Priyanka said, "I strongly disagree with his views. It is a betrayal of my family. My father died for the unity of this country. I cannot disrespect that."
This came after BJP general secretary Varun Gandhi, who on Tuesday filed his nomination for the Lok Sabha polls from Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, said his decency should not be seen as weakness and he never crossed any lakshman rekha.
"In the last few days, a few statements have been made. All I would like to say is my inherent decency and large-heartedness should not be construed as weakness by anyone," Varun Gandhi said referring to the remark by Priyanka Gandhi.
"I have always practicsed the politics of decorum," said Varun Gandhi.
"There has been talk of my path. I have always considered the nation's path as more important than my own. If I am able to constructively contribute towards nation building, I would consider my life meaningful."
He said instead of personal attack unemployment should be debated and one should not deviate from real issues by resorting to personal criticism.
Ahead of his nomination there was a war of words in media between the Gandhi family cousins after Priyanka rebuked her estranged cousin brother Varun Gandhi and urged him to choose the right path.
"Varun ia a member of the Gandhi family but he is on wrong path," she said while addressing a rally in Sultanpur on Saturday.
The 34-year-old Varun Gandhi took part in a roadshow before filing his nomination from Sultanpur. He had fought from Pilibhit Parliamentary constituency in 2009.
