BJP MP Swapan Dasgupta claims to have been 'locked into room' in Visva Bharati

Kolkata/IBNS: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Swapan Dasgupta on Wednesday claimed that he had been locked into a room due to mob attack while he was addressing a meeting at Visva Bharati University in West Bengal's Shantiniketan.

According to Dasgupta, the mob attacked him while he was addressing a "peaceful meeting" on CAA.

"How does it feel to have a mob attack a peaceful meeting on CAA and intimidation students? This is what is happening to a meeting I am addressing at Vishwa Bharati now. Locked into room now with mob outside," he tweeted.

Earlier, he tweeted a poster at Viva Bharati campus walls which called for boycotting his seminar.

He had then urged all with open minds to attend the same.

"This poster has appeared on a wall in the Vishwa Bharati campus, Santiniketan. I assure everyone that attending the seminar is totally voluntary. People with open minds very welcome," he wrote on Twitter.

The local BJP, meanwhile, targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the alleged mob attack.
