BJP MPs should stop all campaigns, fight Corona in solidarity: Narendra Modi
New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday advised BJP MPs against carrying out any political or organisational programmes amid the spread of coronavirus and play an active role in the public awareness campaign to prevent the disease.
Modi was addressing the weekly meeting of the party's parliamentary party held in the Library Building of Parliament here.
According to sources, the Prime Minister said the BJP should not undertake any political or organisational campaign and programme until the pandemic is eradicated. He called upon the MPs to participate in awareness campaigns to curb the disease in their respective areas.
Modi said, 'At this time we should not show any kind of dissension and work with full solidarity,' adding that this message should reach the party and followed seriously.
The Prime Minister was all praises for doctors, nurses, staff, officers and security forces deployed at airports to deal with the virus. He also hailed the role of electronic and print media in spreading awareness about Covid 19.
He urged the MPs to 'meet the media representatives' as the media has played a very commendable role and visit their constituencies to make people aware about coronavirus, sources said.
'India stands firmly in the battle against COVID-19 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the Parliamentary Party meeting, Mr Modi asked all the MPs to go to their respective areas and create awareness to protect people from Corona,' Union Health Minister Harsh Vardha said in his tweet.
At the meeting, PM Modi also appreciated the hard work and contribution of doctors, nurses and health workers in combating the deadly virus, he said.
'In the meeting, the Prime Minister said Indian media's role in the war against COVID-19 has been extremely positive. He asked all the MPs to make media their partner in spreading awareness about Corona,' Dr Vardhan said in his missive.
Union Ministers, including Nitin Gadkari, Dr Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Nirmala Sitharaman and BJP president J P Nadda, were present in the meeting.
