Blast scare at Farooq rally venue, Omar denies bomb explosion
According to sources, Union Minister Farooq Abdullah was to address an election rally in Khanyar ahead of the April 30 polls in the Srinagar constituency.
Eyewitness told IBNS that the blast like sound was heard some distance away from the rally. He said there were some injuries too.
However, Omar Abdullah tweeted: "There was no blast at the venue of Dr Abdullah's election rally in Srinagar. There was a sound that was heard in the distance. The election rally continues without disturbance and the police are working to ascertain the source of the noise that was heard."
Meanwhile, another similar incident took place in Magam town of Budgam, ahead of a rally that Dr Abdullah is to preside over again. Five persons were reportedly injured.
Confirming the explosion and the resultant injuries, a police spokesmen said that the blast was from a vehicle battery's malfunctioning.
