BMC urges Bombay High Court to dismiss Kangana Ranaut's plea for compensation with costs

Mumbai/IBNS: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC, the civic body of Mumbai, has told the Bombay High Court that it would be an abuse of the process of law to entertain actor Kangana Ranaut’s plea for Rs 2 crores compensation against the demolition of her Pali Hill property by the Mumbai civic body, said media reports.

In an affidavit, the BMC urged the court to dismiss Kangana’s plea and impose a fine on her for filing such a plea, the reports said.

On September 9, the BMC had demolished parts of Kangana Ranaut’s property in Pali Hill, claiming that she had made substantial structural changes in the building without due permission.

However, the demolition was stayed by a bench led by Justice S J Kathawalla, after the actor moved the High Court.

On September 15, she amended her plea and sought a compensation of Rs 2 crore from BMC.

The 33-year-old actor has been at the centre of a heated political row with Maharashtra’s ruling Shiv Sena and its coalition partners over her remark comparing Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

She was recently given Y-category security after she said she was being threatened.
