Body of Indian nurse to arrive on Monday from Oman

New Delhi, May 1 (IBNS) Chikku Robert, the murdered Indian nurse's body will arrive in India on Monday from Oman, reports said.

Chikku, a resident of Kerala working in a hospital in Oman was found murdered with stab injuries in her apartment on Apr 20.

Her husband, Linson Thomas, who too worked in the same hospital, was the first to break the news and is under detention in Oman.

Manpreet Singh, the Indian consular agent in Oman was quoted by the Times of Oman as saying, "All the paper work has been done. The body will be first flown to Muscat and from there to India."

The victim's uncle too confirmed the news and was quoted as saying, "We have been informed that the body will be flown on Sunday evening. It will reach by Monday morning at Kochi airport. We are waiting."

Earlier, Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj too condoled the death and urged the Oman government to ascertain facts.

Swaraj had tweeted on Apr 21, "I am sorry to know about the murder of Ms.Chikku Robert - an Indian national from Kerala working as a nurse in Oman. I have asked Indian Ambassador to ascertain all the facts and report. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family."
