| @indiablooms | Dec 10, 2019, at 11:04 am

Chennai/IBNS: #BoycottTitan has been trending on micro-blogging site Twitter for few days as several activists are angry upon leading watchmaker Titan's new advertisement which showcases the Tamil-Hindu culture.

The advertisement, which showcases several temples of Tamil Nadu, says, "Travel around our land where even the stones speak poetry. Step into our flower markets to smell the sweet fragrance of history."

Slamming the company, Karthick Ramasamy tweeted, "Why #BoycottTitanWatches is trending? Recent Ad of @titanwatches has depicted Brahminical books, culture, food, anti Tamil writers&Godmen as Tamilnadu's culture. There is nothing Tamil in it. Brahmin Chauvinism has reached a new high in this Ad.Titan must apologize to Tamils"

One user in the name of Johny Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted, "Tamils are not Brahmins, you fools @titanwatches That 3% Aryans doesnt represent us 97% Tamils!."

Vidhya C said, "Filter coffee & Bharathanatyam are not the identity of chennai or TamilNadu. They are “claimed” to be the identity of “10%” community. Stop this stereotyping. It’s fking annoying even though I love filter coffee #BoycottTitanWatches"

However, several Twitter users have found no wrong in the advertisement rather implied #BoycottTitan is ridiculous.

Geetika Swamy tweeted, "If they want to boycott Titan watches for this, they want to boycott the rich Indian architecture, History, culture and Traditions, preserved for generations that is is holy and sacred for us."

Vishnuvarthan said, "Its so stupid that the dumeel poralis want to boycott titan watch for this 200 kudutha ena venalum tweet pannuvaanunga . Sickening. ThankyouTitanWatches for this beautiful ad potraying tamil culture @titanwatches"

Vinay completely refused to boycott the watchmaker and said, "I already hv good number of watches with me. Planning to buy one more to support titan Will not #boycott titan. "
