BrahMos engineer arrest: 13 Facebook accounts allegedly operated by ISI under scanner

New Delhi, Nov 17 (IBNS): 13 Pakistan-based Facebook accounts, which have over 1000 friends from India, are currently under the scanner of the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (UPATS), media reports said.

The UP ATS claims that the profiles, by different names and identities, are possibly operated by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), reported The Times of India.

The suspicious accounts were revealed after several Facebook accounts were scanned following the arrest of BrahMos engineer Nishant Agarwal and a BSF jawan recently.

IG (ATS) Asim Arun told The Times of India: "We are checking profiles of all 1100 users one-by-one according to their profession and also what kind of information have been exchanged by them to those Facebook users."
Nishant Agarwal, a BrahMos Aerospace engineer, was arrested on charges of spying recently.

Agarwal was arrested in a joint operation by the anti-terrorist squad (ATS) units of Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, following which the UP ATS was granted his transit remand.
