BreakingNews: CBI at TMC MP and Mamata nephew Abhishek Banerjee's home in coal case

Kolkata: A CBI team has reportedly reached the residence of Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee in an alleged coal smuggling case. The nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been asked to join a probe in the case, said media reports.

Banerjee as a Member of Parliament represents the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency in South 24 Parganas.

Amid a no-holds-barred poll battle in West Bengal, the rising BJP has been attacking the ruling TMC in the state with Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee as one of the prime political targets on issues of corruption.

In a counter-attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over nepotism charge, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee last Thursday challenged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to fight elections with her parliamentarian nephew Abhishek Banerjee.

Shah during his rally in South 24 Parganas on the same day had accused Abhishek and his goons of looting people's money.

Details of the CBI notice are awaited.
