Brown sugar worth of Rs 1 crore seized along Assam-Tripura border
Guwahati, Aug 24 (IBNS): Police seized over 500 grams brown sugar valued Rs 1 crore in the international market at Churaibori area along Assam-Tripura border on Friday.
According to the reports, based on intelligence input, Assam police and North Tripura police jointly launched operation and seized the brown sugar from a passenger bus at Churaibari check post along Assam-Tripura border.
The police also arrested a person named Tapan Dutta, who carried the brown sugar hidden in Patanjali and Kellogg’s oats packets.
The passenger bus bearing registration number of AS-01JC-8042 was on its way from Guwahati to Agartala and the arrested person was trying to deliver the brown sugar to a person in Agartala.
During the preliminary police investigation, the arrested person revealed that, an unknown person handed over the seized brown sugar to him at Paltan Bazar area in Guwahati and asked to deliver it to a person named Jahangir Miya in Agartala.
A police official of North Tripura police said that, based on intelligence input, police had launched operation and seized 500 grams brown sugar and arrested a person named Tapan Dutta.
