BSF celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas in Meghalaya
Guwahati, Jul 24 (IBNS): As a part of “Kargil Vijay Diwas” celebrations, 11 Bn and 30 Bn Border Security Force under command of Meghalaya Frontier organized a drawing and paintings competition in border villages adjoining the BSF BOP Barsora and Sanghat on Wednesday.
In the competition, civilian and school children of bordering villages and BSF personnel participated.
The local people and school children of border area participated in all the events overwhelmingly and prizes were distributed to the winners.
On this auspicious occasion, Coy Comdr of BOP Barsora and Sanghat delivered a valuable lecture and briefed to participants regarding the importance of the “Kargil Vijay Diwas” and sacrifice made by Indian army and BSF troops for the nation.
On the other hand, a blood donation camp in collaboration with NEIGRIHMS and Meghalaya AIDS Control Society was also organized by BSF on Tuesday.
The camp was inaugurated by Kuldeep Saini, IG BSF in the presence of Dr A C Bhardwajan, DIG(Med)/Medical Supdt, Composite Hospital BSF, Shillong, Ajay Singh, Principal Staff Officer, Subhash Chandra, DIG, SHQ BSF, Jowai and other senior BSF officers.
The IG delivered a motivational speech to the volunteers gathered for blood donation and emphasized the importance of blood donation stating that one unit of blood donated by one individual can save life of four persons. So this is the best donation one can do and that is why blood donation is called “Raqt Dan Mahadan”
At Tura Dobasipara BSF Camp another blood donation camp in collaboration with Civil Hospital Tura(Meghalaya) also organized on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebration and the objective of the camp was to propagate the significance of blood donation in saving lives and to generate awareness about the need of blood.In blood donation camp 58 units blood were collected.
To lead from the front and give an example for others Kuldeep Saini, IG BSF himself donated blood on this occasion.
Kuldeep Saini said that, BSF is organising this event to commemorate ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ and to remember sacrifice of jawan during Kargil War.
Altogether 70 serving personnel of BSF including the serving ladies staff of BSF donated blood with a zeal to save the lives of citizens.
