BSF jawan's video: Indian sports icons express concern

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IBNS): Indian sports icons have come out to express their concerns over the treatment given to Indian jawans after a BSF personnel Tej Bahadur Yadav posted a video alleging that near starvation diet is served to them at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has ordered an inquiry into the matter.

Meanwhile, reacting to the video, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag tweeted: "Whatever said and done,our Soldiers and Farmers need to be taken better care of. Proper food needs to reach them all.#Food4Soldiers."

Indian boxer and formenr Olympic medalist Vijender Singh said: "Really disturbed by the video of our soldiers being deprived of food. Pray that their needs are taken care of . #SaveOurSoldiers."

Cricketer Mohammad Kaif posted: "Proper food for our Jawans is a must. Bas Baat Khatam. #SaveOurSoldiers."

Harbhajan Singh tweeted: "Hi plz share this as much as u can if you love ur jawans who r protecting us ."

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has ordered an inquiry into the allegations made by a Border Security Force constable over the near starvation diet served to them at the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir.

Wearing his uniform and carrying a rifle, Border Security Force constable  Tej Bahadur Yadav has posted few videos on social media alleging that inadequate and tasteless foods are served to the troops.

"I have seen a video regarding a BSF jawan's plight. I have asked the HS to immediately seek a report from the BSF & take appropriate action," Rajnath Singh tweeted.

The BSF said it is 'sensitive' towards the welfare of its jawans.

"BSF is highly sensitive to the welfare of tps.Individual aberrations,if any,are enquired into.A senior officer has already rchd the location," the BSF tweeted.

In the video, the jawan alleged: "We only get a 'parantha' and tea during breakfast. The food is served without any pickle or vegetables."

"For lunch, we only get pulses which only has turmeric and salt and roti," he said.

Yadav alleged that jawans sometimes go to bed on an empty stomach.

The videos have went viral on social media.
