Based on intelligence input, the troops of 61 battalion of BSF launched a search operation and recovered the arms and ammunition from a house, about just 5 km from the Indo-Myanmar international border on Tuesday.

The security personnel recovered six M-16 rifles, three AK-47 rifles, one LR rifle, one G-3 rifle, one 9 mm pistol, two clay more mines, one under barrel grenade launcher, huge quantity of ammunition, dresses and other war like stores from the house.

The security personnel had also recovered Rs 1,19,100 cash.

A top official of BSF said the recovered arms and ammunition may be belonging to the Arakan Liberation Army – an outfit group of Myanmar and the group is currently in a ceasefire agreement with the Myanmar government.

Mizoram shares 722 km long international borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh.
