Bus-Truck collide in Uttar Pradesh, 22 killed

Bareilly, June 5 (IBNS): A bus collided with a truck near the Bareilly bypass in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday that left at least 22 people dead, officials said.

The bus caught fire after the collision.

The mishap left 15 people suffer from burn injury.

The incident occurred at around 1 am.

The injured people were rushed to district hospital for treatment.

"The truck and the bus both caught fire after the collision. Fire engines reached as soon as possible but the flames were so high that it took us a lot of effort to actually douse the flames and reach inside", senior police officer SK Bhagat was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The actual cause of the accident is still not known.

Investigation into the matter is currently underway.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mourned the loss of lives in the incident.
