By allowing people to be killed through lynching, BJP made country unsafe: Mayawati
Lucknow, July 24 (IBNS): Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which runs the central government, over the Alwar lynching incident, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has said the saffron party made the country unsafe by allowing people to be killed through mob lynching, media reports said.
Reacting to the Alwar incident, where a man has been killed, Mayawati said and she has been quoted by NDTV, "By allowing innocent people to be killed through mob lynching, the BJP has made the country unsafe and this will always be remembered in the history."
"Along with the injustice and violence towards Dalits, and minorities, this black spot will never go away. This is saddening for the country."
The Congress has demanded a probe into the incident by a sitting judge.
In the parliament on Tuesday, CPI-M MP Mohammed Salim has said the hate is engulfing the entire nation. "Lynching incidents are also occurring in West Bengal and Tripura as well," he said.
Reports said two men were taking a couple of cows from their native Kolganv village in Haryana to Ramgarh, when the incident took place last week.
Rakbar Khan, one of the victims, had reportedly died due to the cops' alleged foul play.
According to NDTV, police kept Rakbar in their custody for more than three hours before taking him to a hospital.
The policemen first arranged to ferry the cow and then went to have refreshments, the report said.
Though Rakbar was complaining of pain, the policemen were having tea from a nearby stall, it said.
When the victim was taken to a hospital finally, he was declared dead on arrival.
Naval Kishore, a right-wing supporter, who had called up police first after the lynching incident, told media that police had initially taken Rakbar into custody where the victim was beaten to death.
Meanwhile, Assistant sub-inspector Mohan Singh has been suspended for losing three critical hours in taking the victim of lynching in Rajasthan's Alwar to hospital, said reports.
Two other constables have also been moved to Police Lines.
A picture, which has been aired on NDTV, shows Rakbar was alive in the police custody.
The autopsy report of Rakbar has suggested that the victim died due to shock and had multiple fractures in his body.
