Calcutta HC asks West Bengal government to remove anti-CAA advertisements
Kolkata/IBNS: In a setback for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Calcutta High Court on Monday asked the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal to remove anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, advertisements from television channels.
The petition was filed after Mamata was seen along with her government officers saying, "The West Bengal government won't implement CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC)."
The controversial CAA will grant citizenship to all non-Muslim refugees who came to India from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan before 2015.
Mamata had protested against the CAA hitting streets on all days from Monday to Friday last week.
