Cauvery row: Rajinikanth backs protests seeking IPL matches' ban in Chennai
Chennai, Apr 8 (IBNS): Superstar Rajinikanth on Sunday lent his support to the protesters demanding a ban on Indian Premier League matches in Chennai over the Cauvery (river water) issue, media reports said.
Rajinikanth said it is embarrassing to hold IPL matches at this time.
Earlier, actors Kamal Haasan, Vikram, Suriya and Vijay also supported the protesters.
Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader T T V Dhinakaran has also appealed to cricket lovers to boycott IPL matches scheduled to be held here.
Seven IPL matches are scheduled to be held here between April 10 and May 20.
