CBDT chairman Sushil Chandra becomes new Election Commissioner

New Delhi, Feb 14 (IBNS): With less than two months to go for the General Elections, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) chairman, Sushil Chandra, has been appointment as the new Election Commissioner, media reports said.

The commission was short of one member since December.

Chandra, an Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) graduate, is a 1980 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service.

The Election Commission is expected to announce the Lok Sabha poll dates by the end of February.

Apart from Chandra, Ashok Lavasa is the other commissioner while Sunil Arora is the Chief Election Commissioner.
