Kolkata/IBNS: In an interesting turn of events in West Bengal, India's premier investigating agency on Monday arrested three Trinamool Congress (TMC) heavyweights and a former Kolkata Mayor in a case related to the Narada sting operation.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested West Bengal Ministers Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee, TMC MLA Madan Mitra and former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee.

Sovan, a former TMC member, had joined and also left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar earlier sanctioned CBI investigations against the veteran politicians.

News portal Narada News released several sting operation footage, where TMC's leaders, ministers, MPs and MLAs were seen allegedly taking bribes.

Apart from the four, TMC MP Saugata Roy and TMC-turned BJP leaders Mukul Roy and Suvendu Adhikari are also accused in the case.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee herself reached the CBI headquarters Nizam Palace.
