CBI summons six West Bengal cops, including three IPS, in cattle-smuggling, illegal coal mining cases
Kolkata/IBNS: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has summoned six West Bengal police officers, including three IPS officials and three inspector-rank officers, in connection with its ongoing probes into cattle-smuggling and illegal coal mining cases, sources said.
According to reports, the central probe agency on Tuesday served notices to these senior police officials asking them to appear before the CBI sleuths for interrogation as soon as possible.
Sources in the CBI said that three IPS officials- former DIG (Murshidabad Range) Kallol Ganai, who is presently posted as IG of state IB, former Additional SP of Murshidabad district Anshuman Saha, who is presently working as DC (HQ) of Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate, and former Hooghly SP Tathagata Basu, who is currently serving as the DC of Chandannagar Police Commissionerate- had been served notice.
Three more senior state police officers have also been summoned in connection with the cases, sources said.
The central investigation agency is currently searching for influentials involved with Bengal based international cattle-smuggling and illegal coal mining rackets, which were unearthed recently.
