New Delhi/UNI: Ceasefire agreements with three Naga groups have been extended for another year, the Home Ministry said on Wednesday.

The Ministry said in a statement ceasefire agreements are in operation between Government of India and National Socialist Council of Nagaland/NK (NSCN/NK), National Socialist Council of Nagaland/ Reformation (NSCN/R) and National Socialist Council of Nagaland/K-Khango (NSCN/K-Khango).

It was decided to extend the Ceasefire Agreements for a further period of one year with effect from April 28, 2022 to April 27, 2023 with NSCN/NK and NSCN/R and from April 18, 2022 to April 17, 2023 with NSCN/K-Khango.

These agreements were signed on Apr 19, 2022.

The Naga peace talks refer to talks undertaken between the Indian government and the various stakeholders in Nagaland to resolve decades-old disputes.

Some of these issues date back to the pre-independence times.

The Nagaland Peace Accord, a peace treaty, was signed on Aug 3, 2015, between the Government of India, and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), to end the insurgency in the state of Nagaland in Northeast India.
