CJI Gogoi’s self-victimising response over alleged sexual misconduct doesn’t make sense: Mehbooba Mufti
Srinagar, Apr 20 (UNI) Asking what allegations of sexual misconduct against Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi have to do with the independence of judiciary, former J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti alleged that his self victimising response insinuating that it’s political vendetta doesn’t really make sense.
“Not sure what grave allegations of sexual misconduct against Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi have to do with the independence of judiciary. His self victimising response insinuating that it’s political vendetta doesn’t really make sense,” Mufti, who is Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
CJI Gogoi, hearing a special sitting inside the Supreme Court on a matter of great public importance on Saturday, denied charges of sexual harassment levelled by a former a woman employee against him.
CJI Gogoi said it is a bigger ploy to destablise the judiciary.
He said this is a "very very serious threat" to the independence of judiciary.
