Cong leaders meet Rahul Gandhi to discuss on upcoming West Bengal assembly polls
The leaders met Gandhi at a time when the state is gearing up for the Assembly elections this year and CPI-M and WBPCC both sides are ready for an alliance to fight against Trinamool Congress.
After the hour-long meeting, WBPCC president Adhir Chowdhury told IBNS, "We had a very good discussion session with Rahul Gandhi today. Rahul Gandhi always gives importance to his organizations. He listened our individual opinions with care. All WBPCC members told him that we did not want alliance with TMC again and majority are in favour of an alliance with CPI-M in 2016 election."
"This is not our own view, our party workers are demanding for this alliance to get rid off TMC's attacks. Actually, insistence from the bottom of our party is forcing us to go for an alliance with the CPI-M. Rahul Gandhi assured us that he would forward our opinions to Congress chairperson Sania Gandhi for final decision," he further said.
When WB Left Front chairman Biman Basu was asked on the matter, he told IBNS, "They have not decided on the alliance yet. So, it's not the time to comment on it. Let them take the final decision first."
