Congress fields Randeep Surjewala as candidate for by-poll in Haryana's Jind

New Delhi, Jan 10 (IBNS): The Congress has fielded its spokesperson Randeep Surjewala as the candidate for the upcoming by-poll in Haryana's Jind assembly constituency.

In a press statement, Congress chief secretary Mukul Wasnik said: "The Congress President, Shri Rahul Gandhi, has approved the candidature of Shri Randeep Singh Surjewala as Congress candidate for the ensuing bye-election to the Legislative Assembly of Haryana from 36-Jind constituency."

The election is scheduled to be held on January 28 and result will be declared on 31st of the same month.

The Jind constituency has fallen vacant after the demise of sitting MLA Hari Chand Middha, who used to belong to the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD).

Hari Chand's son Krishan Middha is contesting the by-poll on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s ticket.

Surjewala is presently an MLA from Haryana's Kaithal seat.
