Congress objects to Anupam Kher's The Accidental Prime Minister over distortion of facts
Mumbai, Dec 28 (IBNS): Alleging distortion of facts, the Maharashtra Youth Congress has objected to the release of veteran actor Anupam Kher starrer The Accidental Prime Minister, a biopic on former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Following the release of the trailer, which shows how Singh was caught in the middle of the Congress party and the government, the Maharashtra Youth Congress sent a letter to the producers of the film, demanding a special screening of the same.
Maharashtra Youth Congress president Satyajeet Tambe Patil has threatened to stall the release of the film countrywide if their demand of a special screening is not met.
Also Patil demanded that the producers must agree to the party's recommendations of the necessary changes in the film.
He alleged that the producers have tried to "malign" the Congress party's image.
Kher essayed the role of Singh in the film.
From nuclear deal to scams which had unnerved the Congress government, The Accidental Prime Minister touches all of them.
Vijay Ratnakar Gutte directorial film, which is based on book with the same title by Baru, is slated to release on Jan 11, 2019.
Singh, an economist and politician, became the Prime Minister in 2004 and remained in the post till 2014. He ran the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for 10 years.
