Congress slams Narendra Modi over 'autographing' Indian flag

New York, Sept 25 (IBNS): The Congress on Friday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reportedly autographing an Indian flag here which will be presented to US President Barack Obama.

"Respect for the National Flag is the responsibility of 125 Cr of people, more so for the PM,we expect him to respect tricolour," Congress tweeted quoting party leader Randeep Singh Surjewala.

The flag was signed by the PM for popular chef Vikas Khanna.

The flag was to be handed over to the President by Khanna.

Khanna had prepared the menu for the Indian PM's dinner with Fortune 500 CEOs on Thursday.

As the controversy erupted,  the flag was taken away by officials.

Meanwhile, '#ModiDisrespectsTricolor' has become a top trend on micro-blogging site Twitter.
