Congress will sweep all 7 LS seats in Delhi: Sheila Dikshit
New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI): Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) president Sheila Dikshit, who filed her nomination papers for the North East Delhi Lok Sabha seat on Tuesday said, the party will sweep all the seven LS seats in the national capital, and will form a government at the Centre.
After filing her nomination papers, Dikshit said that she was familiar with the constituency as she had contested her first election in Delhi from this constituency, and has an emotional attachment with it.
"I know the people here and they know me. We started the Metro project from here, our reputation is of working for the people," she said.
She said that she was energised by the enthusiasm shown by the Congress workers for her Lok Sabha candidature from North East Delhi, and she was confident of pulling off a comfortable victory with the unstinted support of the Congress cadres.
Dikshit said that she can face the voters of the constituency with the strong backing of the development works she carried out during her 15-year rule of the Congress in Delhi under her stewardship, and it was from the North East Delhi that the Delhi Metro started its first line, before enlarging its network to almost all parts of Delhi.
Dikshit said that the Congress Government during its 15-year-rule delivered so much that people still fondly recall those achievements and want the Congress back in power once again, to carry forward the development works started by the Congress Governments both at the Centre and in Delhi.
Sheila Dikshit said that her election campaign would put thrust on the achievements of the Congress Governments, and the salient features in the Congress manifesto, and the promises made by Congress president Rahul Gandhi, and the programmes and policies he has espoused.
The six other Congress candidates from Delhi also filed their nomination papers today at the office of the returning officer in their respective areas, who included Ajay Maken from the New Delhi Lok Sabha seat, Jai Prakash Agarwal from Chandni Chowk, DPCC working president Rajesh Lilothia from North West Delhi, Arvinder Singh Lovely from East Delhi, Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi and Vijender Singh from South Delhi.
