Cop killed in Kashmir attack

Srinagar, Apr 2 (IBNS): A policeman was killed and eleven police personnel wounded when militants hurled a grenade at security forces in old city of Nowhatta area in Srinagar on Sunday evening.

According to reports, suspected militants hurled a grenade on forces when they were retreating back after day’s deployment.

“One policeman died while eleven police personnel, including four CRPF jawans, were injured in a grenade attack which was thrown by militants by
taking advantage of mild stone pelting in the area,” CRPF PRO Bhavesh Chaudhary told IBNS.

Deceased Jammu and Kashmir police constable, identified as Shamim Ahmad.

Meanwhile, forces have launched massive search operation in the area to nab the attackers.
