Corruption charge against Rijiju false, Congress taking spit and run tactics : Venkiah Naidu

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IBNS) : Rubbishing the Congress allegation of corruption and nepotism against Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, M Venkiah Naidu on Wednesday said it was part of the Congress' "spit and run" tactics.

According to media reports, he said the power project that the Congress named to whip up controversy was sanctioned when the party was in power at the Centre.

"Let there be a discussion. Clarification has already been given by the Power Ministry... The money... the  contract was given during the previous Congress government. They do not even know that. Then who are they accusing..." Naidu told reporters at a programme and dared the Congress to come for discussion on the issue.

He said Rijiju only "forwarded" the request of "some people who did not get the money" for a hydro project.

"How is it a scam? What is his specific role... It is a false accusation," he said.

"This is the tactics of the Opposition, specially that of Congress. Spit and run. That is what they are trying to do with Rijiju also.

Congress on Tuesday demanded that  Rijiju be dismissed for his "involvement" in the "Rs 450-crore Arunachal power scam".
