Bhubaneswar/UNI: Vaccination program of Covid frontline warriors including personnel from the police, revenue, disaster management, housing and urban development departments will commence on Feb 6 in Odisha.

Director Health and Family Welfare Bijay Panigrahi said the process will be completed in three weeks.

Meanwhile, a decision has been taken at a high-level meeting held under the Chairmanship of Chief Secretary S C Mohapatra to ask all senior officers including the DGP, District Collectors, SPs and other senior officers to take the COVID-19 shots on Saturday.

This would instil confidence among the front line warriors and send a message that the vaccine is safe and has no side effects.

State Additional Chief Secretary P Mohapatra was vaccinated at the Capital hospital today.

Panigrahi said database of 1.92 lakh frontline Covid warriors has been prepared till today and he hoped that the database of the rest would be completed by tomorrow evening.

The first phase the vaccination of Healthcare workers in the state started on January 16 last and would continue till Feb 10.

During the first phase, as many as 2,34,923 health workers were given the first dose of the vaccine till yesterday as against the target of 3,38,700.
