Crystal clear: BJP MP Varun Gandhi claims 'murder' of farmers in Lakhimpur sharing video on Twitter

Lucknow/IBNS: Turning rebel against his party over the Lakhimpur violence, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Varun Gandhi Thursday once again claimed the farmers were killed in the incident causing discomfort for the saffron brigade.

Sharing a video where a car is seen mowing down a group of people, Gandhi wrote on Twitter, "The video is crystal clear. Protestors cannot be silenced through murder. There has to be accountability for the innocent blood of farmers that has been spilled and justice must be delivered before a message of arrogance and cruelty enters the minds of every farmer."

Eight people including four farmers died during a violence which broke out in Tikunia village in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri between the agitators and individuals belonging to the convoy of Union Minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra Sunday.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against Ashish in connection with the incident.

No arrest has yet been made in connection with the incident.

The latest incident is going to have political ramifications in Uttar Pradesh, which will head to assembly polls in a few months' time, with the BJP seeking the second consecutive term under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in the backdrop of the alleged COVID-19 mismanagement.
