'Daily drama': BJP hits back at Congress' attack on Amit Shah over Ambedkar remark

New Delhi/IBNS: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed the Congress for "spreading lies" about union home minister Amit Shah's speech in parliament involving Father of the Constitution BR Ambedkar.

Congress has put up an X post where Shah was heard saying, "It has become a fashion to take the name of Ambedkar. If they (Congress) had taken the name of God that many times, they would have been in heaven for the next seven lives."

Posting the clip, the country's primary opposition party said, "Amit Shah has said something very disgusting.
This shows that the BJP and RSS leaders have a lot of hatred for Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The hatred is such that they are even irritated by his name.

"These are the same people whose ancestors used to burn the effigies of Baba Saheb, who themselves used to talk about changing the constitution given by Baba Saheb. When the public taught them a lesson, now they have become irritated with those who take the name of Baba Saheb. Shameful! Amit Shah should apologize to the country for this."

Countering the charge, BJP IT Cell head Amit Malviya wrote on X, "This is Congress's daily drama - wake up in the morning, insult Baba Saheb Ambedkar, spread lies and repeat this vicious cycle again and again.

"Insulting the god-like idol of the Dalit community shows Congress' hatred towards them. The Congress, which neglects the Dalits, has despised Ambedkar ji since the time of Nehru."

In the video shared by Malviya, Shah was heard saying, "Why did Ambedkar resign from the first cabinet of the country? Ambedkar repeatedly said he was not happy with the treatment given to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, not in agreement with the government's foreign policy and Article 370. That is why he wanted to resign. He was assured but the promise was not fulfilled. So he resigned out of ignorance."

"B.C. Roy had written a letter to Pandit Nehru that what will happen if eminents like Rajaji and Ambedkar leave the cabinet? In response, Nehru-ji had said Rajaji's exit will cause a bit of loss but Ambedkar quitting won't weaken the cabinet," the BJP veteran said.

In an indirect swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Shah on Tuesday said a 54-year-old politician roams about as a young leader.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday during a debate to commemorate 75 years of the Constitution, he responded to Rahul Gandhi and the Congress' allegations that the BJP wants to change the Constitution.

Shah argued that if the Congress could change the Constitution 77 times and even introduce a clause to curb the freedom of expression, they could not object to the "One Nation One Election" Bill on the grounds that it requires constitutional amendment.

"Our Constitution has never been considered immutable. Article 368 has a provision to amend the Constitution. A 54-year-old leader, who calls himself 'yuva' (youth), keeps roaming around with the Constitution, claiming that we would change it. I want to say that the provision to amend the Constitution is built in," Shah said.
