Pune, Jul 28 (UNI) The decision taken by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray to boycott upcoming state assembly elections over EVM issues, is not proper, said NCP president Sharad Pawar here on Sunday.

Addressing a press conference here Sunday, the NCP supremo disclosed that a meeting of Raj Thackeray and Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was held recently in Delhi, where discussion of alliance with congress and MNS was taken. Both the leaders were very positive to keep BJP government away from power in this assembly election, said Pawar.

He said all political parties in the country, except BJP are against EVMs and the numbers of protest were carried out throughout the country against the use of EVMs,but boycott of assembly elections by MNS president Raj Thackeray is against law.

" I am too totally against EVMs and raised the issue against it at various party meetings, but boycotting elections is not the solution of it, Pawar said at a press conference here Sunday and advised Raj Thackeray to rethink over his decision.

He further said there are 288 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra in which seat sharing of 240 seats with alliance partner Congress has been finalised. The decision for remaining 48 seats will be finalised shortly, Pawar added. He said the NCP will contest this assembly election by taking into confidence the new generation.

He said political parties are enraged over the issue of EVMs in the country and said something will happen soon in this regard.
