Delhi: 55-year-old raped and murder, accused arrested

New Delhi/IBNS: At a time when the nation is left shocked by the rape and murder of a veterinary doctor in Hyderabad, a 55-year-old-woman was allegedly strangled to death after being raped in  North Delhi's Gulabi Bagh area, media reports said.

She reportedly stayed in her small tea shop alone.

She was allegedly raped and murder by a 24-year-old man.

Police have arrested the accused.

According to reports, the matter came to light on Saturday morning when a person went to the shop for tea and found the woman lying on the floor.

He alerted people and the police were informed on the issue.

The police reached the scene took the victim to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.

During the course of the investigation, the police recovered CCTV footage in which a man could be seen going towards her tea shop. The suspect was then identified and picked up., reported India Today.

The accused reportedly confessed to his crime and said that he forced himself on her before strangling her to death.

An investigation into the matter is currently going on.
