Delhi Assembly passes Budget; AAP Govt allocates Rs 50 cr to fight COVID-19

New Delhi/UNI: The Delhi Government's Budget of Rs 65,000 crore for FY 2020-21 was passed by the Assembly on Monday, without any discussion.

In view of the Novel Coronavirus outbreak, the budget session was only for one day and the budget was passed by the Delhi Assembly without discussion, in about 90 minutes.

Amid a complete lockdown in Delhi till March 31, in view of the COVID-19 outbreak, the AAP Government presented a Budget of Rs 65,000 crore for FY 2020-21 during a day-long session of the Assembly.

The Budget was presented by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Manish Sisodia.

Same budget back in the year 2015 was Rs 30,000 crore.

In his address, while presenting the Budget in the Assembly, Sisodia said the Delhi Government has allocated Rs 50 crore for fighting Coronavirus in Delhi.

"This is government's initial allocation. Delhi Government assures that it will increase this budget if required. I assure that there is no shortage of funds in dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak for Delhi. We will do all that is required to contain and tackle the scare of the pandemic in the National Capital," Sisodia said.
