New Delhi/UNI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced that bus travel services will be free of cost for transgenders in the national capital.

The proposal will be soon passed by the national capital’s cabinet, and the decision will be implemented within weeks, Kejriwal said in a video posted on X on Monday.

“The transgender community is largely neglected in our social environment. This should not happen, they are also human beings, and they also have equal rights,” Kejriwal said.

"The Delhi government has decided that now travel in Delhi buses will be free for the transgender community as well. Just like women receive free tickets while travelling in buses, the transgender community will also be granted free tickets,” he said.

Soon it will be passed by the cabinet and implemented, the CM added, “I have full hope that this decision will greatly benefit the people of the transgender community.”

“In October 2019, our government announced free bus travel for women, and since then, approximately 147 crore free tickets have been provided,” he further said.
