Delhi HC adjourns to May 17 hearing on plea seeking to halt Central Vista project

New Delhi/UNI: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on a plea seeking to halt all construction activities of the Central Vista project in view of the alarming second Covid-19 wave to May 17.

The petitioner, in his plea, urged to protect the life of the workers and those involved in the project terming the construction work as a 'potential super spreader'.

While posting the matter for next month, Chief Justice DN Patel said that the bench wants to study the judgment delivered by the Supreme Court in this regard.

However, the HC said that it will not issue a notice on the project.

The plea contended that if the project is not halted, it could make the condition worse amid spiraling Covid-19 cases and fatalities in the National Capital.

The plea also questioned the decision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, New Delhi to issue movement passes in the ‘essential services’ category to vehicles engaged in the works of Central Vista Avenue despite curfew and lockdown.
