Delhi: Sexagenarian woman sexually assaulted, stabbed 20 times; dies
Delhi/IBNS: A 62-year-old woman died after she was sexually assaulted and stabbed 20 times in Delhi, police said, reported media.
Police received information about the incident from the hospital where the victim was admitted.
The accused was arrested after police examined the CCTV footage of the area where the victim was recovered and ascertained his identity, an NDTV report said.
A case under Section 302, pertaining to murder has been registered, police said.
The accused has confessed to his crime, police said, adding that the knife used in the crime has been recovered.
The accused claimed that he was in an inebriated state during the incident.
The accused first slit the throat of the woman and then stabbed her 20 times, police said, adding that it appears to be a case of sexual assault, the NDTV report informed.
The body has been sent for postmortem for further investigation.
The woman's son said that he found his mother lying in a pool of blood after he returned home from his duty as a security guard in Noida.
The victim belonged to Begusarai in Bihar and lived in a village in Delhi with her son and grandson, police said, the report added.
