New Delhi/IBNS: With Delhi gearing up to operate the Odd-Even scheme from Monday to deal the air pollution trouble in the city, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said his government is ready for its implementation.

Addressing a press conference, he said: "The people of Delhi will start following the scheme from Monday."

"All departments are ready for the implementation of it," he said.

Kejriwal said he is concerned about the health of the people living in the national capital.

"I am personally concerned about the health of people of Delhi," Kejriwal said.

"We are trying our best to tackle the matter. We have taken several steps to reduce it. Even people of Delhi are trying to reduce pollution trouble," he said.

Targeting opposition leaders, he said: "Blaming people of Delhi for pollution is not correct."

Kejriwal blamed 'stubble burning' as the cause behind the increase of pollution in the national capital.

"We want specific timelines from Haryana and Punjab governments that when will they stop burning stubble."

Kejriwal on Friday announced that schools in the city will remain closed till Nov 5.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, Kejriwal said,"Due to the stubble burning, the level of pollution has increased very much in Delhi. Therefore, the government has decided that all the schools in Delhi will remain closed till November 5."

The air quality is in 'severe' category in areas around Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium and India Gate, according to Central Pollution Control Board on Friday.

Kejriwal, along with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, distributed masks to Delhi government school students, following rise in pollution levels in the city.

After Diwali celebrations in the national capital, air pollution in the city deteriorated with Air Quality Index (AQI) levels crossing 400.
