Delhi University professor, who was arrested over social media post on Gyanvapi mosque, released on bail

New Delhi: Delhi University's History professor Ratan Lal, who was arrested on Friday night over his social media post that has questioned the claims of a Shivling inside Varanasi's Gyanvapi mosque, has been granted bail.

Ratan Lal, who is an associated professor of the prestigious university, was arrested by north Delhi's Cyber Police Station.

A First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him following a complaint by a city-based lawyer.

A case under Sections 153A and 295A of IPC was registered at Cyber Police Station North District

Lal has been accused of promoting enmity between groups of people on the basis of religion.
