Don't get upset due to false propaganda of fake exit polls: Rahul Gandhi urges Congress workers

New Delhi, May 22 (IBNS): Barely a day ahead of the Lok Sabha election results, Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday urged his party workers not to get upset by the exit polls, which have predicted a second term for Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Gandhi tweeted, "Dear Congress party workers, the next 24 hours are crucial. Don't be afraid but cautious. You are all fighting for the truth. Don't get upset due to the false propaganda of fake exit polls. Keep your faith upon yourselves and the Congress party. Your hard work will be paid off."

Several exit polls have predicted the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA)'s comfortable win in the Lok Sabha polls, which ended on May 19.

As per the exit polls, the NDA might get seats ranging from 277 to 369. The Congress is expected to remain under 100 along with the decimation of several regional parties. The halfway mark is 272.

Earlier Congress' eastern Uttar Pradesh chief Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had urged her party workers not to get demoralised due to the exit polls and said her party's hard work will be paid off.

The exit polls have already been rubbished by several opposition leaders.

West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo, Mamata Banerjee, was the first to reject the exit polls by calling it a "gossip". "I don’t trust Exit Poll gossip. The game plan is to manipulate or replace thousands of EVMs through this gossip. I appeal to all Opposition parties to be united, strong and bold. We will fight this battle together" she had tweeted.
