EAM S Jaishankar holds bilateral talks with FMs of Japan, Australia, Egypt

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday held bilateral talks with his counterparts from several countries, including Australia, Japan, Egypt, Sweden and Saudi Arabia.

In his talks with his Australian counterpart Penny Wong, EAM said in a tweet that the regularity of their bilateral contacts reflects the convergence in their views.

“A productive discussion with @SenatorWong, Foreign Minister of Australia.

“The regularity of our contacts reflects the convergence in our views. Look forward to an exciting 2023 in India-Australia relationship.”

On his talks with Japanese counterpart Yoshimasa Hayashi, EAM Jaishankar said the two sides discussed the “solid progress” in various elements of their bilateral relationship.

“Delighted to host FM Yoshimasa Hayashi of Japan on his first visit to India. Continued our warm and friendly conversations.

“Discussed the solid progress in various elements of our bilateral relationship. As also our cooperation in third countries.”

On his talks with Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, EAM said they had a good conversation during which they discussed global developments among other issues.

“A good conversation this morning with FM @FaisalbinFarhan of Saudi Arabia.

“Appreciate Saudi Arabia’s support in the G20. Also discussed global developments.”

On his meeting with Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom, he said the two discussed technology, sustainability and economic cooperation.

“Nice to meet @TobiasBillstrom, FM of Sweden today morning on #RaisinaDialogue2023 sidelines.

“Noted the steady progress in our bilateral ‘sambandh’ and regular contact in the India-Nordic and EU formats. Discussed technology, sustainability and economic collaboration.

“Exchanged perspectives on Europe, Indo-Pacific and other global developments.”

The Swedish FM, in a tweet, said he had a “very good and productive meeting” with the EAM.

"A very good and productive meeting with my colleague @DrSJaishankar
at the #RaisinaDialogue2023. Sweden and India are good friends and likeminded on many issues.”

Jaishankar also met Egyptian FM Sameh Shoukry, and the talks focused on the follow-up to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Elsisi’s successful India visit in January.

“Glad to meet FM Sameh Shoukry of Egypt. Welcomed his participation in the G20 meeting yesterday.

“Our discussions focused on follow-up to President @AlsisiOfficial’s successful visit in January 2023.”
