Chennai, Sept 8 (IBNS): Following the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)'s raids, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday filed a case in Tamil Nadu's alleged Gutkha scam, media reports said.

On Sept 5, the CBI had searched residences of Tamil Nadu Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar, Director General of Police TK Rajendran, former state minister BV Ramana and others in connection with the alleged scam.

The scam pertains to an alleged acceptance of bribe of Rs. 39.91 crore for facilitating the storage, transportation and sale of Gutkha, which is banned in Chennai.

Former Chennai Police Commissioner S. George's house was also searched by the agency.

The search operation came days after Madhava Rao, the manufacturer of MDM brand of gutkha, was interrogated by the CBI.
