FIR filed against Robert Vadra, Bhupinder Singh Hooda over Gurgaon land deals

New Delhi, Sept 2 (IBNS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi's brother-in-law Robert Vadra, who is a businessman, has been booked over alleged irregularities in a string of land deals in Gurgaon, media reports said.

Besides Vadra, the FIR also names former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in connection with the land deals.

One Surinder Sharma, a resident of Nuh, has alleged irregularities into the land deals and has filed an FIR against Vadra as well as Hooda.

Real estate developing companies DLF and Omkareshwar Properties have also been named in the FIR.

According to the FIR, Vadra's company Sky Light Hospitality made land purchase in Gurgaon's Sector 83, Shikohpur, Sikandarpur, Khedki Daula and Sihi for Rs. 7.5 crore and later sold it back for Rs. 55 crore following a change in its classification.

However, Vadra has denied the charges and said the FIR was an attempt to divert the attention of the people from real issues.

Speaking to NDTV, Vadra said: "It's election season... there is an increase in oil prices... so let's divert the real issues of people... what's new?"

Earlier too Robert Vadra had been accused of acquiring two lands in Haryana and Rajasthan.

In Rajasthan's Bikaner, his firm had allegedly bought about 70 acres of land in 2010 for 70 lakhs and sold it three years later for about five crores, reports had said.

The deal allegedly happened when the Congress was in power at the Centre and in the state.
