Fire breaks out at paying guest hostel in north Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar, over 30 women rescued

New Delhi/IBNS: Over 35 women were rescued from a paying guest hostel in north Delhi's Mukherjee Nagar after a fire broke out in the building on Wednesday evening.

Fire department officials said they are looking into whether anyone is trapped.

According to the fire department, they got a call about the fire from Signature Apartment at 7.45 pm, following which 20 fire trucks were sent to control the blaze.

The fire has been completely extinguished. There were around 35 women and all are safe, officials said.

As per initial reports, the fire seemed to have started from the electricity meter board near the staircase and spread to the upper floors of the three-storey building with a kitchen on the terrace.
