Sivaganga, Sep 7 (UNI) A notorious rowdy-sheeter was hacked to death by an unidentified six-member-gang near District Collector office here on Saturday.

Police said the deceased was identified as K.Rajasekharan (38) hailing from Panangadi village in this district.

Rajasekharan was facing several criminal cases, including six murder charges and extortion.

He was waylaid by the gang, when he was returning to home on a motorcycle after appearing before the judicial magistrate court in a case.

The assailants attacked him with machetes and severed his head before fleeing the spot.

Police rushed to the site and removed the body to government hospital for post-mortem.

Police suspect previous enmity might have been the motive behind the murder.

Further investigations were on.
